Glory Days is Max Lucado’s newest work and follows Israel’s move from the wilderness into the Promised Land. Using the book of Joshua, Max Lucado outlines why he believes that God has purpose for our lives as Christians that many of us are missing and an inheritance we have failed to receive. In the book, each land represents a different condition of life. For example, Egypt represents slavery, the wilderness represents fear and Canaan represents victory. He then presents a different story for the book in Joshua in each chapter in order to encourage Christians to live their “Glory Days” now.
I am still unsure of how I feel about Glory Days because it reminds me of one of my favorite Bible verses Isaiah 55:8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD.” I do believe as Christian we often fail to live the life God intended us to have here on earth. However, I also do not know how much I buy into the concept that life here on earth should be considered “glory days.” I know that the Bible says “For if Joshua had given them rest, He would not have spoken of another day after that” (Hebrews 4:8). The day after that that this verse is referring to is life in heaven. There are definitely some truths in the book that make it worth the read. However, I think this book is best used as a devotional or Bible study guide because the material leaves one with a lot to wonder and pray about (I am still left praying and thinking about many of the concepts in this book). Max Lucado also makes it easy to use this book as a devotional by including a chapter-by-chapter study guide with discussion questions as well as a promise prayer. In the end, I appreciate Max’s effort to help Christian leave fear and worry behind, deal with our doubt, demolish our strongholds, overcome rejection and dare to live. I guess when I we meet in heaven, we can as Jesus if life on this side of eternity meant to be our “glory days.” Family Christian Stores sponsored this giveaway by providing me with a free copy of Glory Days. We read or do some crafts together. Sometimes we also bake some goodies too. It is a little messy but we got to spend time together. :)

We have a dry creek bed in our backyard. My kids love to play in it, and they forget all about TV and video games while they're playing!
