Hello Supporters, I have a confession to make, I really dislike the book, Alexander Very Bad Horrible Day by Judith Viorst. I know this book is a classic; has won a bunch of awards, and has a billion positive reviews but I really don’t like the negativity. In fact, when I have used Alexander Very Bad Horrible Day in therapy my patients are usually more negative and unmotivated to change their lives. So imagine my excitement when I found a useful alternative to Alexander Very Bad Horrible Day: It's A Super-Bad Terrible Day! by Virginia Finnie. In It’s A Super Bad Terrible Day!, author Virginia Finnie shows children and adults that even if a day is not going well, there are things you can do in order to cope. For example, in Alexander Very Bad Horrible Day, and in It’s A Super-Bad Terrible Day! the main character wakes up to a problem (tripping on a skateboard, and stepping on Legos). In Alexander’s book, the main character goes on to say “I know it is going to be a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day” and encounters more problems. However, in It’s A Super-Bad Terrible Day!, the main character realizes a bad start to the day doesn’t mean the entire day is terrible. So he picks up his Legos and moves on with his day. The other thing I love about Virginia’s book is that it ends in hope. The closing sentence of her book is “You can do it. You’re pretty tough. So hang in there when the going gets rough.” This is a message that everyone needs to hear. As you probably know, Alexander’s book ends with a statement “It has been a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. My mom says some days are like that.” So supporters, if you have Alexander Very Bad Horrible Day; I strongly suggest you replace it with It's A Super-Bad Terrible Day! by Virginia Finnie. Well that is all of now supporters. Please continue to pray for me and know I am praying for you. Corine P.S.
