Since telling people last week that one of my books will be free for two days, some people have asked why I am giving away my book for free. So today, I thought I would explain why. The most obvious reason is that I know that Jesus loves when I give (for more on that please check out my other book Why We Give Gifts at Christmas Time). The other reason is that it is also a marketing strategy (please forgive me for not being truly altruistic in my motives). . Basically, the more people that download my book over the next few days, the better the sale of my book should be over the next month. One of my author friends, Susette Williams, explains it better than me in her book Self-Publishing Tips & Marketing Resources. Susette has a novel, Maid for Murder: Deadly Business. She offered the book free for three days and had over twenty-nine thousand free copies downloaded. Maid for Murder: Deadly Business went on to be #2 in Christian Romance category and Christian Fiction. In the months that followed her free days, she made over $ 5,500 from sales of that book. Due to several changes that Amazon made to their affiliates program, it is harder to spread the word about the fact a book is free. However, I still decided to give it a try. Over the last month, I have contacted over 40 sites in hopes they will let others know about my book. So my ultimate goal is to get My Journey with Jesus Christ in the top #50 free Kindle downloads so that I will have a better chance of experiencing the sales boost during the month of November. Based on Susette’s experience, if I reach my goal of being and staying in the top #50, I should sale an average of 3.5%-5% of whatever my free downloads were over the next thirty days. So what happens if I don’t meet this goal? Well… I guess the Christian in me would just have to settle for knowing that I have helped some young souls along their journey, and the psychologist in me would have to settle for knowing I have helped some children strengthen their attachment with a loving adult. For more marketing strategies, check out Self-Publishing Tips & Marketing Resources books. I highly recommend it. Apparently neither of my books has quite made it to Zoar

This week on my journey has had some highs but mostly lows. Some of the lows can just be chalked up to life (i.e., slow computer, unexpected dental work that caused me to be less than productive). Other lows have definitely tried my patience and drained my energy. The biggest low has been discovering that my books are not listed under the correct category on Amazon. Currently, Amazon has over five million physical books and over one million ebooks. This essentially means that searching for my books have been like searching for righteous souls in Sodom and Gomorraha. Thankfully, neither of my books has been turned into a pillar of salt and Amazon responded right away to my request that each book be correctly categorized. Amazon has assured me within 72 hours each book will arrive safely in the proverbial Zoar. While I wait for each book to make it to Zoar; marketing efforts have been put on hold. But on this journey there is always plenty to do. Some of the things I will be working on over the next week are finishing the supplement material for My Journey with Jesus Christ, starting the supplement material for Why We Give Gifts (thank you again to my youngest sister, Tayniesha, who has agreed to help me), exploring affiliates programs to increase exposure of both books and updating my website. So lessons learned this week is to make sure your books are categorized correctly and check every once in a while to make sure they have not strayed off the path. Please continue to pray for me as I pray for each of you, Corine P.S. if you do not have a copy of My Journey with Jesus Christ yet, a little birdie told me it will be free on October 25 & 26 via Kindle P.S.S. please feel free to leave your thoughts, questions or comments in the comment section below Thanks for stopping in to visit my website! I hope your time here gives you a chance to get to know me better. My passion is to write books that educate, uplift, and help Christians, as well as non-Christians grow in their understanding of the Lord Jesus. However, I will not be able to do this without you. To paraphrase one of the Bible verses that God has placed in my heart for this season of my life “in the multitude of counselors there is wisdom (Proverbs 15:22). I am inviting each of you to be my counselor and walk though this journey with me. Since we probably do not live in the same city, state or maybe even country; our meetings will have to happen here, on my website. In this section, you have access to information on my background, both personal and professional. |
