Greeting Supporters, I know it is not my usual posting day but I wanted to tell you about a product I am super excited about: The Family ToolBox. The Family Toolbox is a DVD/video-driven program that brings parents and teens together for constructive dialogue around significant issues of discipleship. Conversation is sparked by engaging video clips. Sixteen Life Success Principles are communicated through eight lessons that give parents and teens biblically-based, practical topics for discussion. The format grabs teens and gets them interacting. The Family Toolbox has 8 lessons. Each one has a 1-2 minute scene of a family living life and experiencing common challenges in their relationships. A discussion guide prompts dialogue between parents and teens and a 10-minute teaching session for parents featuring Dr. Scott Turansky and Joanne Miller, RN, BSN gives practical tools to use right away. Hey Supporters, Can you help me decide on the subtitle for my next book? As you know, I have been working on a new picture book for children and adults involved in the foster care system. Teaching Christ’s Children is my publisher, although this book does not contain any Christian references. It is expected that Jaden Goes to Foster Care will be released before the end of 2014. I have created a survey with exactly one question. "Which subtitle would make you more likely to purchase my book?” Just click which title your like below. Thanks for your help. Continue to pray for me and know that I am praying for you. P.S., don’t like any of the titles? Suggest a new one in the comment section. Hello Supporters, Can I share a secret with you? I used to hate journaling. I know that journaling is like the 11th commandment as a Christian. I also know all the benefits of journaling. However, I just had a hard time consistently journaling until recently... Then, I began to ask myself three simple questions each time I read the Bible:
Once I began to answer these three questions, I found that as long as I had time to read, I could journal. I was so excited to about journaling, that I developed a journal to keep track of my relationship with God. This journal is call My Life with Jesus Christ. It is sold on amazon for less than $8. You can find out more about My Life with Jesus Christ. You can also download a free bookmark here. Well that is all for now supporters. Continue to pray for me as I pray for you, Corine Hey Supporters, I am delighted to introduce you to a fellow Christian author, Marilynn Dawson. Marilynn is the author of "Becoming the Bride of Christ: A Personal Journey", "Mom's Little Black Book: Godly Advice for the High School Graduate", "Practical Thoughts on Becoming an Author", "Dressed for Eternity." She is here to talk about her latest book "A Year in Prayer With Jesus." Marilynn grew up in a solid Christian home, coming to Christ at the age of 7. She has been actively involved in Church life since age 10, including activities such as joining her Mom and sister in singing special numbers, choir, teaching Sunday School, leading Sunday School open session, planning Sunday School lessons, and more. Marilynn attended both public and private schools growing up. She attended North Island Community College on Vancouver Island and Trend College in Kelowna, obtaining certificates in receptionist work and Comptia A+ computer repair. What genre do your books fit into? My books are all mostly non-fiction and primarily Christian/Spiritual growth or Personal Growth in nature. There is a bit of fiction in my series, but only as chapter openers throughout the series. What can a reader expect when they pick up one of your books? They can expect a fair bit of Scripture, exhortational as well contemplative writing and challenges to apply Scriptural teaching to their own life. Who do you write for? I write for the Christian who wants to go deeper in their walk of faith. This person has already come to faith in Christ but is not happy with the status quo and is looking for teaching and encouragement that will give them something to chew on, meditate on and grow from. This person may be male or female and reached that point in life where they've come to own their faith for themselves. So what got you into this type of writing? This type of writing was formed at the age of 12, when I sat down to my desk in my basement bedroom and began asking myself what I truly believed. Was I hanging on to the coattails of my parents' faith, or did I believe what they believed, for myself? Even at that age, processing the truths of God's Word took place when putting pen to paper or fingers to keys as the world of high-tech computing entered the home. What began then as a form of devotional writing for myself, morphed into writing for others initially online in a couple different forums, and then to wider audiences as the Internet continued to mature. So the book we're looking at today is your latest, and it's titled, "A Year in Prayer With Jesus". What prompted you to write this particular book? This book has actually sat on the back burner since 2008. Over the years, I have sat in many different prayer groups and under various pastors and guest speakers. Invariably, the question comes up, "how do I pray?" Other times, a person will be heard muttering under their breath, "I don't know how to pray". Back in 2008, I'd done up a one-month prayer guide using various sources on the 'net to create prayer points following The Lord's Prayer and covering such issues as the persecuted church, true seekers, the 10-40 window, home missions, etc. But when the idea came back to me this year, the vision was wider. As I sat down to brainstorm what this book could look like now, a whole range of prayerful teachings came to me in point form. What is your goal for this new book? My goal for this book is a combination of several things. First - To offer those who wonder how to develop a personal prayer life, a pattern of prayer they can follow. Second - To offer those with established prayer lives, another way to look at The Lord's Prayer. Third - Some people like to pray the Scriptures, so over 2000 verses are presented that relate to each of the seven prayer points, expanding the Scriptures such people may typically refer to. This project showed me that most people have their pet 50 - 60 verses that they refer to regarding any of the seven points in this outline. This book expands on that significantly, with many of them actually coming out of the Psalms. A fourth goal for this book is to get at least 365 people praying through this outline every day for an entire year. This would take the point where missions is the focus, and cover all groups, languages, missions organizations and mentioned countries, 365 times! That thought gets me excited! Where can your readers get a copy of this book?
