You are in for a treat today. Not only am I providing you with an update but at the end, I will be introducing you to another Christian Children Author. Today I am participating in a “blog hop.” Encase you are wondering what is a “blog hop.” A “blog hop” is where one person post a blog and "tag" or mention another blog in the post. The person that is mentioned then post a blog and tag/mention someone else. The idea is that if you want to, you can follow the blog trail across many different author websites or blogs and find out what authors are doing all over the place! Most “blog hops” have themes. Last year, I participate in a blog hop on the theme of Children's Authors. This blog hop is cover the theme “Writing Process.”
So I caught the proverbial baton from Penny Reeve. Penny is the author of more than 15 children's books including the popular 'Find the Animal' and 'Tania Abbey' series. As the child of missionaries, she grew up in a variety of cross-cultural settings and loves to write about how faith changes the way we respond to the world around us. Penny now lives in Sydney, Australia, with her husband, three children and two dogs.
If you’d like to read more about Penny and what she’s currently working on follow this link back to her website.
Here’s a bit about me for those of you who are new to me: My name is Corine and I write books, picture books to be exact. So far I have four books published and I am working on my 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th … maybe my 9th and 10th depending on the day of the week, lol.
What am I working on? As you can tell from the above answer, I have a lot that I am working on. Currently, I am waiting on the publisher to send me a completed draft of Godly Feelings. I am really excited about this book because it combines my training as a child psychologist with my Christian faith. Godly Feelings is scheduled to be released November 4, 2014. You can preorder Godly Feelings for $6 plus shipping here.
I am also working on my first non-Christian book Jaden Goes to Foster Care. It scheduled to be released October 7, 2014. While this is a non-Christian book I am praying that it will minister to the millions of children in foster care and their parent’s (both biological and foster parents). You can preorder Jaden Goes to Foster Care for $6 plus shipping here.
You can purchase any of my books through my website here or Amazon here.
How does my work differ from others of its genre? With regards to my Christian picture books, I think the major difference between my books and others that are in its genre is the fact there are Bible verses on several pages. My desire with my picture books is to teach children (and adults) that the Bible has answers to all life’s questions.
Why do I write what I do? I think I already answered this question above, lol. I guess the other reason why I write what I do is because I have always turned to the Bible for answers (even before I became a Christian). I believe that God placed the desire to search His Word for answers at an early age.
How does my writing process work? I have no idea, lol. Literally, my first book took years to write, while the second one I wrote early one morning. Since then I have struggled to develop a process. One thing that is consistent with all my books, even Jaden Goes to Foster Care, is that the process starts and ends with prayer. I pray before I write, while I am writing and even once I done. My prayer is that the Lord will use me (write though me) and that each book will minister to those who read it.
Now it is time to pass the baton to my colleague Mary Ellen Green. Mary Ellen is a fellow Christian author who published one book so far: A Starry Night and is working on her second book Splash. You can learn more about her by visiting http://maryellengreenauthor.blogspot.com/
Well that is all for now, please pray for me and know I am praying for you.
