Cheap Adult Christian Coloring BooksHey Supporters, Well it finally happened. I finally jumped on the adult coloring bandwagon. Those of you who know me from my previous jobs as a child psychologist are probably not surprised. When I was working exclusively with children, my co-workers and i would often gather in an office after stressful day and color while chatting. However, I recently starting using coloring with a few of my adult clients and I am amazed by the results. This got me to thinking "it would be great to combine the mediation benefits with the Word of God." If you are thinking the same think, check out these great adult Christian coloring books. The kindle version are only $3 and the physical books are less than $10. Well that is all for now, please continue to pray for me and know I am praying for you. Corine ![]() http://amzn.to/1Q74UCR Greeting Supporters, Today I will be reviewing a new book by Lysa Terkeurst, Win or Lose, I Love You! This book promises to help equip parents to help children:
First let me start off by saying that I had high expectations for Lysa TerKeurst book Win or Lose. I read her first book It Will be Okay: Trusting God Through Fear and Change and thought it was great in so many ways. So i was expecting the same great story telling in Win or Lose. Win or Lose was designed to teach children how to handling winning and losing with grace and dignity. However, this book fell short of my expectations. I found the text a little long and drawn out which made it hard to pay attention to the whole book. I also did not like the statement in the book “sometimes you’ll lose, but there’s is no need to cry.” Crying is a godly expression of sadness. Telling people/kids there’s no need to cry invalidates their God given right to express sadness. There are a few things I do like about the book (i.e., the note to parents in the beginning and the 10 Bible verses in the back about Words of Wisdom whether you win or lose). So my search for a book to teach children how to deal with competition in a godly way continues. If you know of a book, please leave it in the comment section. That is all for now, please continue to pray for me and know I am praying for you, Corine Disclaimer: I received this book from BookLook Bloggers for free in exchange for an honest review; all thoughts and opinions herein are that of my own. ![]()
Greetings Supporters,
As you know I am a big Lee Strobel fan. I have read The Case For Faith, A Creator and Christ, given them as gift and own the DVD series. Therefore, I jumped at a chance to review his latest book The Case for Hope. In The Case for Hope, Strrobel explains that “true hope” is more than wishful thinking, blind optimism, or hopeful dreams. True hope is only found in trusting in Jesus Christ. One way that Strobel states the idea of hope is as follows: "Hope is the inextinguishable flicker God ignites in our souls to keep us believing in the prevailing power of His light even when we are surrounded by utter darkness." "Hope is the inextinguishable flicker God ignites in our souls to keep us believing in the prevailing power of His light even when we are surrounded by utter darkness." This book goes on to highlights the relationship between hope and doubt with a special emphasis on the fact that doubt is not a sin. The book then uses anecdotal case studies about why people can put their hope in Christ and ends with a 30 day journal that includes Bible verses about hope. While I loved this book, I do want to warn other readers and Strobel fans that this book does not exhibit Strobel’s trademark investigative/research style. Instead this book is a light read that I think is perfect for this time of year. I normally do not comment on the physical appearance of adult books; however, this book is beautiful. It has a hard cushy cover and thick pages. I highly recommend this book as a gift for yourself or someone else. Family Christian Stores sponsored this giveaway by providing me with a free copy of A Case for Hope. In addition, they are blessing one lucky reader with a copy of the book. I am super excited about today’s post. Not only did my friend and fellow author Virginia Finnie agree to review my newest book, Teaching Christ’s Children About Feeling Angry, but she also tested the teacher’s guide I developed for it. So continue reading below to find out what Ms. Finnie has to say about using Teaching Christ’s Children about Feelings Angry to help children learn what the Bible says about feeling angry.
Mrs. Finnie's Review
Teaching Christ’s Children About Feeling Angry is a beautifully illustrated book for children and an excellent resource for teachers, counselors and parents to teach and counsel elementary age children about angry feelings. It explains in a way that children can easily understand that God gave us all of our feelings, including anger; therefore anger is not bad and has a purpose. Children learn how to recognize angry feelings and to understand the source of their anger. They learn strategies to control and express their angry feelings appropriately, as well as how to respond when someone is angry with
The main character, Tay is easy for children to relate to as she tells how she has felt anger and the consequences of expressing her anger in ways that are unacceptable. She then learns what the Bible has to say about anger, and she is given tools for controlling her anger. Scripture references are included throughout this biblically based book.
Using Teaching Christ's Children in the Classroom
As the children heard Tay’s story, they naturally wanted and needed to share their stories of times when they felt angry and what happened. It was important This is an important teaching for all children and I recommend it without reservation.

Glory Days is Max Lucado’s newest work and follows Israel’s move from the wilderness into the Promised Land. Using the book of Joshua, Max Lucado outlines why he believes that God has purpose for our lives as Christians that many of us are missing and an inheritance we have failed to receive. In the book, each land represents a different condition of life. For example, Egypt represents slavery, the wilderness represents fear and Canaan represents victory. He then presents a different story for the book in Joshua in each chapter in order to encourage Christians to live their “Glory Days” now.
I am still unsure of how I feel about Glory Days because it reminds me of one of my favorite Bible verses Isaiah 55:8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD.” I do believe as Christian we often fail to live the life God intended us to have here on earth. However, I also do not know how much I buy into the concept that life here on earth should be considered “glory days.” I know that the Bible says “For if Joshua had given them rest, He would not have spoken of another day after that” (Hebrews 4:8). The day after that that this verse is referring to is life in heaven. There are definitely some truths in the book that make it worth the read. However, I think this book is best used as a devotional or Bible study guide because the material leaves one with a lot to wonder and pray about (I am still left praying and thinking about many of the concepts in this book). Max Lucado also makes it easy to use this book as a devotional by including a chapter-by-chapter study guide with discussion questions as well as a promise prayer. In the end, I appreciate Max’s effort to help Christian leave fear and worry behind, deal with our doubt, demolish our strongholds, overcome rejection and dare to live. I guess when I we meet in heaven, we can as Jesus if life on this side of eternity meant to be our “glory days.” Family Christian Stores sponsored this giveaway by providing me with a free copy of Glory Days. In addition, they are blessing one lucky reader will win a $25 Certificate to Family Christian. This giveaway will end October 16, 2015 12:00 AM EST. The winner will have 48 hours to respond to my email. If no response, a new winner will be chosen. Open to residents of the US/CAN. Someone recently asked me to guess the number one day for evangelism in the United States? After several guesses, I was shocked to discover that the correct answer was Halloween. But after thinking about it, the answer made perfect sense. Halloween is the only time of the year that your neighbor and their kids will come to your door begging for you to share something with them. I realized that as a Christian this would also be a perfect time for me to share the Gospel of Jesus with my neighbors. However, I wanted a unique way to share the Gospel. I quickly ruled out pencils with ‘Jesus loves You’ messages because I want my neighbors to know more than Jesus loves them, I wanted them to know how to become a part of God’s family. I was thinking a Bible track would be perfect; however, in my experience most people, kids included, just throw gospel tracks away. Then I remembered a unique index card that I used to help my Sunday school class learn the Books of the Bible made by Memory Cross. My Sunday school loved these cards because the cards have what is called an infinity folding design. They remind me of ‘fidget toys’. To my delight, Memory Cross has designed several cards for Halloween. Each Halloween track presents the Gospel message, and some of the tracks have coloring areas or mazes. I like the ‘coloring tracks’ because coloring the cards allows the child to spend more time looking at the message presented. But don’t take my word for it; Memory Cross is willing to send you a free sample if you click here So do you celebrate Halloween? If so, how? What do you think about using Halloween to evangelize? Well that is all for now, please continue to pray for me and know I am praying for you. Corine ![]()

Hey Supporters,I want to tell you about a great find I recently discovered for children--
|
Hey Supporters, The Bible journal pages are based on the B.U.M.P. acronym: |
First, encourage the child to read a passage of scripture or Bible based book. Then instruct the child to pick out a particular verse—or group of verses—that was especially meaningful to them. Write the verse under the Bible section of the journal.
Next, ask the child to write what they understood about the passage (think summary or answering the usual who, what, where, when, why, and how questions).
Then have the child think and write about why/what he/she read is important to him/her. Specifically, how he/she can put it into practice in his/her life. Finally, have the child create a prayer based on what he/she learned. Again, for children who are not proficient at writing they can draw a picture or dictate their ideas to an adult. (Please feel free to share your child’s completed pages by emailing them to me at booksbycorine at gmail or sharing them on my facebook page www.facebook.com/booksbycorine).
The church note journal page includes four sections: What I Learned; Questions I Have; What I am Praying For and Free Space.
Well that is all for now, continue to pray for me and know I am praying for you.
Corine
P.S., there are a few different versions of the church note pages in the members’ only section.
