Intended not only for children, but for their birth parents and foster parents as well, Jaden Goes to Foster Care follows the story of a young boy, Jaden, and his experience of finding comfort in his birth mother’s traditions before he must transition to a foster family. Touching on hot topics that are quite often faced by foster families and children, Dr. Hyman has written a book to encourage foster families and birth families to work together for their children in a successful way. Dr. Hyman’s book has already drawn in a great deal of praise. Trivinia Barber, a foster as well as adoptive parent and owner of Priority VA, LLC has stated, “Corine takes a complicated topic for parents and children and makes it easy to talk about with a foster child.” Jennifer Clarke, a foster parent and writer at A Divine Encounter says that “This book will be a helpful tool for anyone who works with or cares for children in the foster system”. The First Christmas is written by Janice Green and illustrated by Violet Vandor. As the title suggests, it retells the birth of Jesus. What I like about this book is that it provided a comprehensive of account of the our Lord’s birth. For example, this book covers the following events: Messiah; Zecharaiah and Elizabeth; Mary and Mary's visit with Elizabeth; Joseph’s visit from an angel; The trip to Bethlehem; The Innkeeper; Jesus' birth; The Shepherds; and The Wise Men. I must admit that while reading this book I learned some new information (I would share it in this review but want to encourage you to purchase the book for yourself and see if you learn something new). This book includes several bonuses including discussion questions at the end of each page and a Christmas craft (how to make a Christmas Bible quilt). This book can also be used in two different ways; each two pages could be read in the days leading up to Christmas or it could be read as a whole book. You can purchase The First Christmas though Amazon for around $10. Well that is all for now supports, Please continue to pray for me and know I am praying for you, Corine Hey Supportes, |
